A deck is the piece of the backyard that lives closest to the house, so it has to be built right where it meets the house: a ledger that is flashed so water never gets behind it, footings sized for the soil, and railings and stairs that meet code. That is the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether the deck is still solid in fifteen years.
We build pressure-treated wood decks with railings, steps, and skirting, sized and shaped for how you will use them. Because we build the rest of the yard too, the deck is planned with the patio, the lawn, and the lighting instead of as a separate project.
Decks generally need a building permit. We tell you what applies at the quote stage.
What’s included
A layout on site so you can see the size and height before anything is built
Footings dug and poured to suit the soil and the deck's load
Ledger board flashed and fastened to the house correctly
Pressure-treated framing, decking, and stairs
Railings built to code height and spacing
Skirting or lattice to close in the underside
Site cleaned and lawn repaired where the work disturbed it
What the price depends on
We do not publish a rate for this, because a number with no yard attached to it is a guess. These are the things that actually move it:
Deck area, and how high it sits off the ground
Footing depth, which the soil and the height decide
Material. Pressure-treated pine, cedar and composite are three different numbers
How many railings and stairs
Whether an old deck has to come down and go to the tip first
We measure all of it on site. The written quote comes back with the scope, the materials and one price for the whole job, so you are comparing a number to a number rather than one guess to another.
Questions about this work
Do I need a permit for a deck?
In most Mobile and Baldwin County jurisdictions, yes — decks are structures and are inspected. We tell you what your city or county requires before quoting, and the deck is built to pass.
Wood or composite?
Pressure-treated wood is what we build most, and it is the most economical choice. Composite decking costs more but needs no sealing. Ask and we will quote the option you want.
How long will a treated wood deck last on the coast?
Well built and looked after, a long time. The two things that shorten a deck's life are water getting behind the ledger and untreated cut ends — we flash the first and seal the second.

Thinking about deck building?
A sentence or two is enough. We come out, walk the property with you, and follow up with one written quote for the whole job.
Call or send the form. Tell us what you are picturing and where the property is. We come back to you within one business day.
We walk the property. We look at the ground, the drainage, the sun and shade, and what is already there, and talk through options and budget.
One written quote. One scope and one price for the whole job — lawn, hardscape, drainage, fence — in the order it should be built.
We build it. One crew from the first dig to the last light, with a call if anything changes along the way.
