A sod lawn is the fastest way to go from bare dirt or a patchy, weedy yard to green grass you can actually use. The part that decides whether it lasts is everything that happens before the first roll goes down: the old lawn stripped out, the grade fixed so water runs away from the house, the soil loosened and amended, and the surface raked smooth.
We install the warm-season grasses that do well in south Alabama — centipede, St. Augustine, zoysia, and bermuda — and help you choose based on sun, shade, foot traffic, and how much lawn care you actually want to do. Then the sod is laid tight, staggered, rolled, and watered in.
If the yard also needs drainage, irrigation, or beds, we do that first, in the right order, so the new lawn is not dug up a month later.

What the price depends on
We do not publish a rate for this, because a number with no yard attached to it is a guess. These are the things that actually move it:
Square footage, and whether an old lawn has to be stripped off first
The grass itself. Centipede, St. Augustine, zoysia and bermuda are not priced the same
How much grading and soil prep the ground needs before any sod touches it
Whether irrigation goes in first, which is cheaper than trenching a finished lawn later
Access for pallets. A narrow gate means every piece moves by hand

Which grass should I choose?
Centipede is the low-maintenance choice for most Gulf Coast yards. St. Augustine handles shade better. Zoysia and bermuda take more traffic and look tighter but want more sun and more care. We will tell you which fits your yard, and we will say so if the one you want will not work in your shade.
When is the best time to lay sod here?
Warm-season sod establishes fastest while it is actively growing, from spring through early fall. It can be laid in cooler months too — it just takes longer to root, and it needs watering either way.
How much do I need to water new sod?
Daily for the first couple of weeks, then tapering off as the roots take. Without irrigation that is a real commitment, which is why we often install or fix a sprinkler system before the sod goes down.
