On a sloping lot, water does not sit, it runs, and it takes soil with it. Erosion down the side of a house, mulch washed out of beds after every storm, and a lawn that thins at the top of the slope and drowns at the bottom are all the same problem. The answer is usually a combination of regrading, drainage that catches water before it builds speed, and retaining walls where the change in level is too sharp to plant. Daphne also has serious live oaks, and working near them means hand-digging around roots rather than trenching through them, which changes how a job is planned.

The slope behind our house is eroding. Wall or planting?
It depends on how steep it is and how much level ground you want back. A gentle slope can often be held with the right planting and proper mulch. A steep one, or one where you want usable lawn at the bottom, wants a block retaining wall with drainage behind it. We will tell you which after looking at it, not before.
Can you work around mature live oaks without damaging them?
Yes, and it is worth doing properly. We hand-dig inside the root zone rather than trenching, keep grade changes over the roots to a minimum, and route irrigation and lighting cable around them. Oaks that size are worth more to the property than anything we would install.
Do you cover the rest of the Eastern Shore?
