How we do it
Lighting is the finish that makes the rest of the work show up after dark. Path lights along a walkway, step lights so nobody trips, lights set into a retaining wall, and uplights on the trees and the front of the house.
We install low-voltage LED systems: a transformer on a timer or photocell, buried cable, and fixtures placed where they light the yard rather than glare into the windows. When we are already building the patio or the wall, the wiring goes in at the same time and the fixtures sit exactly where they should.
It can also be added to a yard we did not build — the site visit tells us what is possible.

What the price depends on
We do not publish a rate for this, because a number with no yard attached to it is a guess. These are the things that actually move it:
- How many fixtures, and how far they sit from the transformer
- Whether wire can be trenched through open ground or has to route around finished hardscape
- Fixture type. Path lights, uplights, hardscape lights and step lights differ in cost
- Whether it is fitted during a build or retrofitted into a yard that is already planted
We measure all of it on site. The written quote comes back with the scope, the materials and one price for the whole job, so you are comparing a number to a number rather than one guess to another.
Questions about this work
Do I need an electrician?
Low-voltage landscape lighting runs off a transformer plugged into an outdoor outlet, so most systems do not need new line-voltage wiring. If the house has no suitable outdoor outlet, that part is an electrician's job and we will tell you up front.
Can lighting be added to an existing patio or wall?
Usually. Path and accent lights are easy to add to any yard. Fixtures set into a wall or step are much easier when the wall is being built, which is one reason to plan lighting with the hardscape instead of after it.
How much does it cost to run?
Very little. LED fixtures draw a fraction of what the old halogen systems did, and a timer means they are only on for the hours you choose.
